Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Reasonably well constructed. Uses standard chipset. Supplied disc has drivers for all versions of Windows from XP onward (32 and 64 bit), Linux and all recent versions of OSX. Realtek has the latest drivers on their site. The price is acceptible considering...
    Cons:
The supplied antenna isn't brilliant but it works.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Does exactly as it should when used with my Motorola Xoom tablet, Huawei mobile wifi and Nokia dumb phone. Cheap enough to buy several. Not much else to say.. it's a USB lead
    Cons:
None found so far. It's just a cable after all.

Good value and goos selection of I/O

posted by robbage on 01/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Very small. Uses a well known and reliable chipset. Supported for WinXP through to Win8, 32 & 64 bit. Best price for functionality. I needed access to DTR and RTS which are available.
    Cons:
A data sheet would be good. What does the reset pin do? Output to reset an Arduio or is it an input to reset the module?

    A great interface

posted by robbage on 01/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Compact, easy to use, convenient connectors. Works exactly as required. Fits pretty much anywhere a DB9 connector would fit so projects are kept more compact.
    Cons:
The mini-USB socket for power can be misleading for buyers. This socket is for power ONLY.

Handy place to dump adaptors and stuff

posted by robbage on 01/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The best place for all you gadgets and spare bits is right inside your computer. Most people wouldn't even know it's there so they aren't going to pilfer your stuff. CDs and DVDs also fit inside the box.
    Cons:
The one I have sometimes sticks closed and needs a bit of coaxing to get it open.

    Pros:
Cheap and simple. Common easy to get drivers using well known chipset
    Cons:
The screws don't work very well and are hard to grip. The soft moulding makes it feel cheap and ready to fall off although it p...

Works ok, but don't expect concert hall music

posted by robbage on 01/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Installs with Windows XP automatically. No driver disc required.
    Cons:
Flimsy plastic case broke during normal use. Audio isn't brilliant but does the job. Don't use it as your main sound device.

An OK product but don't expect daylight

posted by robbage on 01/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Very easy to use. Uses a lot less than the 500 milliamps quoted in the specifications. Very easy to mount on a wall and plug power in. Suitable for a front door camera if it's out of the weather.
    Cons:
There is some visible light emitted which is noticeable in the dark, so not much good for covert illumination.

    Works as advertised

posted by robbage on 01/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This is the smallest microSD reader I've seen. Installs and works on XP automatically, no driver disc needed. Makes a great alternative to a thumb drive.
    Cons:
If you hang this off your belt or keys and it gets caught on something, the tiny lanyard will probably break. It can be a bit f...

    Does what it's supposed to

posted by robbage on 01/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Logs correctly. Drivers and software work well and of a good standard. Battery is compatible with many Nokia phones including mine. Works well as a USB-serial device and Bluetooth-serial device. Standard mini-B USB connection.
    Cons:
Would be better with timed Bluetooth discovery instead of always being in discovery mode. Occasionally loses satellite lock ind...
