A great knife for the kitchen

posted by rocketsurgeon on 01/04/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I've been looking for a good utility knife for the kitchen. I have plenty of long bladed knives, and they're great to have, and I also have a fair number of smaller paring knives, but I needed something in between. Something with a bit larger (both wider a...
    Cons:
I don't have many cons - for what it is, it's great. We all want cheaper & better, of course...

    Fine piece of gear

posted by rocketsurgeon on 02/21/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Seems a good value for money. The projection is clear, the features are useful and reasonably easily accessible. The voice/movement activation is a very nice feature, albeit a little trigger happy.
    Cons:
Does not appear to be possible to rotate the projection display. As is, if you have the clock facing forwards on next to your b...

Fine as projection clock, but not other features

posted by rocketsurgeon on 02/14/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It pretty much does what it says it does. The projection is a little weak if you use it in daylight, but in a dark or semi-dark room, it's more than adequate.
    Cons:
It is inexpensive, and you can tell when holding it that is cheaply built. The buttons used to control it when not using the so...

Small, light, and surprisingly good feel

posted by rocketsurgeon on 12/07/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It's a small, lightweight keyboard that does away with, or compacts, a normal keyboard to one that more resembles what you'd find on a laptop. Surprisingly good "feel", similar to what you'll find on high-end laptops.
    Cons:
The only cons that comes to mind is that at times, it's too light, e.g., if resting in your lap, typing on it will cause it to ...

It does what it's supposed to

posted by rocketsurgeon on 07/11/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Well, it does what it's supposed to do - it warns you if the two parts of the set are separated.
    Cons:
I found it to be larger than I'd expected, not so large as to render it useless, but enough to reduce it's usefulness. The ala...

    Bright and nice color!

posted by rocketsurgeon on 04/05/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Bright. Really, it's way more luminous than similar locally available led lights. I like the color, it's warm white, no annoying tinge to it. I plopped one into my bedside lamp and it seems perfect for reading before bedtime.
    Cons:
Nothing to complain about so far.

    Overall, a good buy.

posted by rocketsurgeon on 03/28/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Tried it with both SATA-disks and SDHC (8GB), and both work fine. With the USB ports for USB-sticks, this is almost a one-stop shop for removable media.
    Cons:
Couldn't get my old CF harddisk (1GB) to work in the CF-slot. It works fine in my all-in-one cardreader (sku 05817), so I can ...

Good buy if you don't need super accuracy

posted by rocketsurgeon on 11/08/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Pretty solid feel to it, seems well built. You can turn the laser pointer on/off. The display is backlit (toggle), for use in dark areas. Comfortable to work with.
    Cons:
At a distance of a meter, the measurement area is fairly large (a circle with a 12.5cm diameter), so you really need to get pre...

Works fine, good size and sensitivity

posted by rocketsurgeon on 08/13/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Works well on just about any surface. Just works under Linux and Windows, out of the box. Good size - small enough to be easy to lug around, but not so small it's hard to use. Uses standard AAA-batteries. Can recharge them using USB cable.
    Cons:
Button to start pairing is hard to press without a tool of some sort. Plugging it into USB for charging seems to generate spur...

    A nice little camera

posted by rocketsurgeon on 08/13/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Takes decent pictures/video. Works well in low-light. The clip allow it to be clipped onto things, and doubles as a stand if you just put it down on a table or on top of a screen. Works out of the box on Linux.
    Cons:
Picture gets washed out in bright daylight. The joint on the clip could be more flexible.
