Must have for all cumputer technician or hobbyst

posted by sassor on 10/06/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
A computer technician can't work with such a tool. Very convenient for hard drive backup/recovery/replacement. You don't even have to unscrew the hard drive from the case : it's faster than with docks adapters. Mini-ide is bus-powered form the usb. Price, i...
    Cons:
2"1/2 sata drives should be bus prowered from usb. I'd prefer not to have to use the PSU in this case. You have to use the...

    Good Flux

posted by sassor on 10/06/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I's flux. And since it's a paste (and not liquid) it's easy to put the quantity you want on the board before soldering, especially for small parts. It's useful everytime I do soldering work.
    Cons:
It's written soldering paste on the box, so I'm not sure if I can trust the other claims written on it.

    Great price and quality

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Good meter that has most of the functions I want as a hobbyst, and simple to use with its autorange. Shows the same measurements as my 10 years old DVM92 : I hope it means that my other meter is still good, and not the other way.
    Cons:
Continuity test is slow. I prefer to use another meter for that. The autorange could be a bit faster, but it's not that bad.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I agree to most of what furgelnod said before me : It's cheap It's small and lightweight It has a metal body that leaves a good impression As you can see on the photos, it has both an open beam, to light the close environment, and a focused beam to light fu...
    Cons:
Why do they write POLICE on it ? It's not really a con, it's simply ridiculous... Mine also has few factory debris behind the p...

    excellent 1x & 2xAA driver

posted by sassor on 06/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Works great even with single AA or AAA nimh (less than 1.5v)! On the same single worn out battery, 25505+Cree Q2 is far brighter than the 08988 1xAA flashlight I bought at the same time. Easy to use since there are no modes, it's worth its price.
    Cons:
    None
