    Works well

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It's cheap, well constructed, and works just as it should.
    Cons:
Is labelled "Arduino". Guys -- it's open source. The only thing you CAN'T do is call it "Arduino".

    Seems to do the job

posted by steve.h on 09/09/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I've waited some time after getting this before I review it because I've had bad experiences with Chinese stuff failing quickly. This has not. It holds a charge and continues to hold a charge :-)
    Cons:
The capacity is not quite as good as the original when it was new, however it is better than the one I replaced and is far chea...

    3.5mm socket is flakey

posted by steve.h on 04/07/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
looks nice, works, fits well (I used it with my IPod Nano)
    Cons:
Was a little scratched on arrival. The 3.5mm socket won't work if you push the earpiece jack in all the way. You have to pull...

    poor build quality

posted by steve.h on 04/07/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Lasted 7 hours in the mode where all LEDs were on using 2 sku:72 batteries that were not recently charged. Was quite bright at the beginning and I terminated the test when the light was acceptably bright, but much dimmer.
    Cons:
I have opened this unit twice, once to insert the batteries, and once to remove them. I already have 1 of the 4 clips broken. ...

Small bacgs each a differnt single colour

posted by steve.h on 04/07/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
You put them in water and they grow. I really haven't had them long enough to tell you much more. I have a plant that has been growing in water that is now sitting in a class full of these and it works fine. If you want a mix of colours there's no reaso...
    Cons:
I'm making this up :-) But I guess if you want a large amount of a single colour you'll have to buy multiple packs. The other...

Even more tiny that you'd imagine

posted by steve.h on 02/19/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
These are really tiny, however they're not so tiny that you can't put SMD components in that you've removed from (or have escaped from) thier tape. They close quite securely, so I'm not afraid of them accidentally opening. They open quite wide, so I don't t...
    Cons:
I'm a little concerned for how long they'll last. I wouldn't put static sensitive parts inside them. You need very small finger...

    Pros:
This fits, it connects to my work bench, and I haven't had anything die unexpectedly, so I presume it works.
    Cons:
It's a little tight around my wrist. Apparently the instructions are in Chinese ;-)

Seem good for placing SMT components

posted by steve.h on 02/19/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The points come together well. They are comfortable to use. The curve makes placing smaller SMT components quite simple. They don't seem to be magnetised, so components don't "stick". Cleaning them is easy (to remove solder paste).
    Cons:
Not so good for larger components.

posted by steve.h on 02/19/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
My wife likes big watches. She likes this, so she likes me for getting it for her :-) It can be a conversation piece.
    Cons:
Can be a bit tricky to read at first. People looking at it for the first time can't figure it out.

    Great for hacking :-)

posted by steve.h on 12/23/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
If you want to "mod" this for another purpose (say by having the sensor one place and the light in another, then this unit is for you. Very simple controls (i.e. *none*). Just stick the batteries in and away you go. Won't turn on unless the amb...
    Cons:
Naff colour. Build quality and appearance not as good as 3156. Single white LED is not very bright.
