Works fine with Late 2012 Macbook Pro 13" Retina

posted by steveo on 08/26/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
It is an inexpensive display adapter that works fine with my Late 2012 Macbook Pro 13" Retina's Thunderbolt port. I am using it as a desktop extension with a Dell 1905FP and it has no issues pushing the 1280x1024 signal.
    Cons:
The build quality is cheap, but this is to be expected from an off-brand product that costs less than half of the name-brand pr...

posted by steveo on 05/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These are excellent LED bulbs that I've had running in my apartment for the past 3 months. I purchased a number of them and they have all been operating perfectly fine (no problems whatsoever).
    Cons:
They are cooler (bluer) than I expected. Thankfully all of them are approximately the same color temperature, so it's not a bi...

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This is a great little flashlight that includes a 3-mode push button switch on the rear cap. The three modes are "High Beam", "Low Beam", and "Flash". It appears to flash at somewhere between 5-10 Hz. It is black with a silv...
    Cons:
None that I am aware of other than the fact that the clip appears to be non-removable.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Cheap bell that works well. It is loud and can be heard from quite a distance. Very easy to mount to a bike's handlebars.
    Cons:
The mounting hardware is cheap plastic. I'm not sure if it will last a season, but I certainly hope so! The bell's lever for ...

    Great for simple hobby projects

posted by steveo on 05/23/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
These are fantastic for microcontroller projects when you need a simple, quick connection, but don't want to worry about soldering a jumper between the pins. I use these to connect components to my Arduino microcontroller, but you can use them for any low-...
    Cons:
Price is high for what these are (ribbon cable with female connectors crimped onto each end).

    Pros:
Works well on a 3.3V Arduino using SPI. u8glib supports this display using the U8GLIB_MINI12864 constructor. Cute little display, works well
    Cons:
A bit pricey for what you get, but that's to be expected when dealing with hobbys. The LED backlight is white (not blue as sta...
