    A pocket rocket

posted by stronge on 01/30/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
As the title states it's the pocket rocket. It has a very nice throw pattern which is rarely seen with XP-G. Mode memory works well and predictable so it always turns on in the desired mode. Build quality is superb - it has none of Ultrafire C3 and the like...
    Cons:
None. No electrical contact issues, no modification is needed.

    Just an O-Ring.

posted by stronge on 08/02/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
They DO fit an Ultrafire C3 perfectly although 20mm is the flashlight's outer diameter. I've installed this ring between the glass and the reflector and the bad head contact issues are gone now.
    Cons:
The rings DO NOT GLOW! The are just green O-rings and nothing more. They really seem to be from a rejected lot or something lik...

    A good choice.

    Pros:
Fits easily SKU.39191, which is Ultrafire C3 with DX logo on it.
    Cons:
None, except for the price. It could really be cheaper, considering it is a machined piece of aluminum with no electronics.

It turned out better than I expected.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It's small, light and has a plastic casing. I've measured the output and was pretty surprised as it is 800mA constant current. Most of the wall chargers here (including 1000mA ones) have actually 400-500mA pulse current and don't suit my communicator. Build...
    Cons:
The multy-purpose cable is an awful idea. I'd rather prefer one cable and a set of adaptors. The charging cable is also weird a...

    It works!

posted by stronge on 07/30/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It can charge virtually any Lithium cell and has 12V input. Also this charger is using the proper charging algorythm CC-CV (constant current when charging, constant voltage when charged).
    Cons:
As I've read from the forums there's a very high risk of burning it by plugging it into 230V mains. So I'm using it with 12V 50...

    Normal batteries.

posted by stronge on 07/30/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
The are protected and they perfectly fit my Ultrafire C3. Also the capacity is normal (while defenitely not the best out there). I think they are the best at this price.
    Cons:
One of the batteries came DOA and did not charge. A little investigation showed that in fact the battery was OK but with comple...

    One great lighter.

posted by stronge on 07/30/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
As the description says it's fully metallic which is really great. It is amazingly well built - I'd say it's the highest quality lighter here on DX. When the button is pressed the spring loaded cap pops up and it ignites. The fire nozzle is absolutely the s...
    Cons:
The strap on the lighter is great but it's not detachable (without cutting it). That's the only con to me.

It's not as good as you think.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Alas, I can't find any as the damn thing is currently dead.
    Cons:
It's not anywhere near 1000mA. It's only 400-600 mA and it's not constant current but pulse charger. I have a Glofiish x600 tha...

    Great and small flashlight.

posted by stronge on 06/24/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Yeah, DX logo :). It is small, sturdy and surprisingly bright.
    Cons:
Judjing from the weight the batteries are just AAAs in AA shell. Went to the bucket straight from the package. I've no intentio...

A handy blowtorch almost for free.

posted by stronge on 02/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Works great, has a continious fire lock, a safety lock and a flame regulator (a knob at the bottom around the valve). The lighter is well built and the nose is made of metal that means it won't melt after 30 seconds of use. The rest of the head is made of t...
    Cons:
Doesn't operate in the wind and temperatures below -5 centigrade. But are these really cons at this price? The answer is "Of'co...
