Handy for campers, home repair, power outages

posted by tangledshoelace on 03/17/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's a fairly bright, hands-free flashlight. Watch batteries don't seem to corrode as quickly as conventional ones, meaning that they have good "drawer power".
    Cons:
Of course, you have to be willing to wear a hat. Indications on product telling you which way to flip the batteries on inserti...

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It's plug-and-play with modern OSes. I have tried it on both Windows Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 64 bit. Also a friends Mac, but I'm not sure which version of OSX. It's low profile, since it juts out less than a centimeter. The low price makes for a great ex...
    Cons:
Mine arrived in a teensy ziploc-style bag, without a label or documentation. It's easy to lose, and hard to identify--unless yo...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This is a versatile, hands-free light. I ordered five to keep around for camping, home repair, and reading during random power outages. They come with a starter set of batteries, so you're ready to go.
    Cons:
They're so handy, they seem to disappear when my friends and relatives borrow them. The markings for the polarity of the batt...

    Pros:
Holds my lightweight DSLR (40D), with a real lens on it (30 year old metal and glass 105mm f2 prime with metal hood). It's not going to balance well with a long telephoto, but it's been great for me. Offers great versatility when you pair it with an IR rem...
    Cons:
People not familiar with this type of tripod may be startled by it. I have a neighbor who thought it was a sex toy. In other w...

    Handy craft item, good value

posted by tangledshoelace on 02/26/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These are a great option for patient folks who want a pile of magnets for crafts and projects. Picture of product and its packaging is accurate.
    Cons:
Unspectacular packaging (pile of magnets with loose plastic wrapped around, no label) makes them easy to misplace.

    Cheaper than a backlit keyboard

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Inexpensive, non-disruptive light. Portable. Has survived a month in my laptop bag, so it's somewhat durable.
    Cons:
It's flexible arm/neck doesn't always take to a position initially, as if the whole thing is too heavy to support itself. So it...

    Handy-especially for point and shoots

posted by tangledshoelace on 02/26/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Great stabilizing device for compact, point and shoot cameras. You should also be able to use this with an off-camera flash, though you may need an adapter.
    Cons:
Not sturdy enough for a larger camera, such as a DSLR. This is not a product design flaw; it's just the wrong tool for the job.
