    Serious Light Source

posted by tarantila on 06/22/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Light. My gosh there's light. This flashlight packs a serious punch. Will not get too hot under long usage which is always a big bonus (unless it's middle of winter and -10c). Comes with a strap, which could though have a fastener so you could adjust the s...
    Cons:
Strap does not have a fastener so you could adjust the strap around your wrist. You need nimble fingers and few tools to chang...

    Great all-around extra battery

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Sleek design, well built and feels solid. User changeable cells, though cells with PCB will not fit in. They are too long for the cell slots. Cells are changeable without any tools, so you can pack several cells on the go and then change fresh cells in wh...
    Cons:
Will not fit cells with PCB (understandable, as the circuitry in the case has PCB). Cells than come along do not have the &quo...

bright light from a small package

posted by tarantila on 11/23/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Small, capable of using AA or 14500 cell, very powerful, well focused beam. Build quality is good. Feels like a solid package.
    Cons:
When using protected 14500 cells, you need to tap the light once to get the light to accept the cell. Not a big problem, few m...

    Spiffy little light source!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
L-shape, magnet base. Works very well, emits ridiculous amount of light. Magnet feels strong enough to hold the light in place.
    Cons:
When kept at full power with 14500 cell, the light will become very, very hot in just few minutes. Reflector head will be so h...

Good all-around light for everyday usage.

posted by tarantila on 11/23/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Build feels ok, zoom head slides easily, can be operated by one hand. Light throw in normal (non-zoomed) mode is from 1m about 1m on target. This gives very good overall lighting for example at forest. When zoomed, you'll get the image of the emitter (whic...
    Cons:
Clip screwholes are not parallel, thus build quality plunges. clip itself feels like it could survive nuclear attack. Screw hol...

    Good case with a sealant.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Feels good, tested with 18650 cells. Has room enough to accommodate 18650 cells with protector board. Seal around the cover feels good, it's inside a groove so it should not break under usage easily.
    Cons:
Clips that close the cover might break after extended use, as they seem a bit thin. When they break, even one of them, the case...
