    Great little torch

posted by trevbozo on 09/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Stainless steel casing!! Highly polished, well finished flashlight. Positive feeling clicky. Very compact, with classy 'Trustfire' etching. The best part is, this thing throws an amazing amount of light for its size. There's a tiny little emitter, yet it is...
    Cons:
The one downside I can see (I'm a machinist by trade, so I have an educated opinion on build quality), is the threads. If they ...

    Very Good, but....

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
I bought a few of these on behalf of friends, but I didn't get one for myself. Duh! Build quality is very good. The finish is a nice semi-gloss like my WF-502b. Stainless bezel is a nice touch. Brightness is fantastic, easily outshining my Trustfire SSC-P7...
    Cons:
Annoyingly, the mode changes to the next in the sequence when turning off and on again. This doesn't happen with either the 502...

Getting close to a 50W halogen

posted by trevbozo on 07/07/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
I have been buying more powerful LED's every time DX lists them. I started with the 3W candle, then the 4W, which wasn't bad, but less floody. Now this 5 watter is getting very close to the performance of a 50W halogen. I've replaced 2 50W halogens in a ga...
    Cons:
No cons to report as I've only used them for a few hours, but I'm impressed enough to write a review already!

    Almost a 50W Halogen

posted by trevbozo on 12/04/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Very bright for the power used(4 Watts). Build quality seems good. There's some weight to the unit, which feels reassuring. No dramas with fitting, as others have indicated.
    Cons:
Not as big a flood as a 50 Watt halogen. The light is whiter than a 240volt Gu10.

    Excellent Value!

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Solid light unit, with simple control. Cables are fairly heavy duty, and seem to be weatherproof. Haven't had a chance to use it in anger yet, but looking forward to it, after fumbling with small torches. I'll run a Fenix on the 'bars for general light, and...
    Cons:
Packaged in a bubble wrap envelope, and arrived with the box crushed. No damage to the equipment inside, however. Standard cabl...

    Good General use torch

posted by trevbozo on 07/10/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Easy to use, no contact issues. Always fires up, and doesn't seem as temperamental as my Fenix LD20 or other Cree lights. A RELIABLE torch I reach for even before my new 900 Lumen Trustfire. Great for kids too.You can't argue with the 10 buck pricetag.
    Cons:
Machining finish is a little rough. I like it, but others I've shown it to think it's a flaw. The only drawback is, you have to...

    Flame thrower

posted by trevbozo on 07/07/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
This beast obliterates my Fenix and People's Cree 150 Lumen torches. I'll never again splash out for 4 'D'cells for my big Mag light, because this single 18650 torch would easily blow it out of the water.
    Cons:
I've only had it one day, so the 'WOW'factor hasn't subsided yet. I'ran it with the half-charged 18650's supplied and it blew m...
