    Works well but not cheap

posted by yrnkrn on 04/23/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Works well. Can drive eight, nine, ten, eleven Cree XM-L at 2100mA. Price is not cheap at $25. In fact the 80W version http://dx.com/p/2-5a-80w-power-constant-current-source-led-driver-85-265v-47307 supplies 2.5A instead of 2.1A but costs two dollars less. ...
    Cons:
Again, there are no screw holes to install driver board and its siblings on DX. I can't understand why they skip on holes? hole...

    nice 2100mA led driver

posted by yrnkrn on 04/23/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Cheap price and works well. Can easily drive five, six, seven, eight XM-L in series with 2300mA current. It can drive nine XM-L as well, but the current is lower at 2100mA which indicates this is just a bit too much.
    Cons:
No screw holes to hold this driver board (and similar drivers on DX). Why they skip on holes? cost is nothing. I ended up re-us...

    Good 1800mA driver

posted by yrnkrn on 03/29/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Cheap price. Simply works well. Does not heat too much even after prolonged opeartion.
    Cons:
I purchased two and both were 1800mA with either four or five XM-L connected. The description of 2000mA output current is simpl...

    Not good driver for XM-L

posted by yrnkrn on 03/17/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Packaged in a plasic box, unlike the other drivers, makes it very easy to install. Comes with thick LED wires suitable for 2000mA (again unlike other drivers such as SKU 42746. I measured just above 2000mA.
    Cons:
Plastic instead of aluminum box is not very good for dissipating heat. Some cheaper drivers come in aluminium box. While the s...

Great flood emitters at great price

posted by yrnkrn on 02/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
These are great flood emitters at great price. The Cree XT-E are among the newest and most efficient emitters available.
    Cons:
No real cons. if you want more light with less emitters Consider the Cree XM-L family.

Good for PCB but not wire connection

posted by yrnkrn on 02/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
These are standard microUSB SMD sockets. Not much to say here.
    Cons:
I use microusb sockets as power sockets for rechargable devices I build. Previously I used another brand of microusb socket whi...

good driver for two AA or Lithium-ion

posted by yrnkrn on 12/04/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
While this driver works from 1V to 4.2V, its efficiency is terrible when voltage is lower than 2.4V. This problem is common with such drivers, as I noted on my review of SKU 128084. Also, current is not really regulated outside the 2-3V range (noted correct...
    Cons:
I ordered three boards, one arrived short circuit due to bad soldering of the black wire. I fixed it.

good driver for two AA bad driver for one AA

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
small compact driver pre-soldered wires excellent currency stability at input voltages above 1.5v
    Cons:
I measured input voltage and current and efficiency is terrible at 1.2-1.3v. The current becomes stable only at 1.5v. The data...

Good quality replacement or for DIY projects

posted by yrnkrn on 04/04/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
If you need a battery case replacing a broken one or for a DIY project this is a good part. The cheaper ones come with open case and then the batteries may pop out especially in toys. Also since the case is not closed they tend to break up from the spring p...
    Cons:
    None so far, works well.

    Good battery, great price

posted by yrnkrn on 04/04/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
GP may be less known than Eveready, Energizer or Duracell but I have never seen a GP alkaline battery leak. Moreover the GP batteries are usually cheaper than the big brand names. Locally a GP 9V alkaline battery costs about 25% more than in dealextreme.
    Cons:
    Have not found any.
