    Sounds good, auto-reconnects

posted by zlp00 on 08/08/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I've been looking for a bluetooth A2DP transmitter for an audio project. My goals were: 1) Must be powered by external supply ... or work properly while charging internal battery. 2) Once paired with a receiver, must attempt to reconnect if receiver goes ou...
    Cons:
None yet. A2DP audio is compressed, so some quality will be lost. I listened very critically and noticed the slightly squishy ...

    Sounds fine, auto re-connects

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I've been looking for a bluetooth A2DP receiver for an audio project. My goals were: 1) Must be powered by external supply, not internal batteries. 2) Once paired with a transmitter, must attempt to reconnect if transmitter goes out of range or power is int...
    Cons:
Output is a little low. I used a Fiio headphone amp to drive headphones and the results are fine. A2DP audio is compressed, so...

    Well-designed, sounds good, NO AGC

posted by zlp00 on 10/13/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I am a sound recordist and electronics experimenter and sometimes I get tired of home-brewing everything. This item is a great problem-solver: an omnidirectional electret mic (looks like a Panasonic WM-61a) and a mic preamp, with appropriate audio filtering...
    Cons:
Some reviews have mentioned that it has auto gain control (AGC). It doesn't - just good clean gain. This could be good or bad, ...

Mine only records for 5 seconds!

posted by zlp00 on 03/21/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's small and it generally does what the description says...
    Cons:
Mine only records 5 seconds, not 15 seconds. Also, if the pitch dial is set too high, the unit won't record. It seems like the ...

Shines bright, runs cool, good color

posted by zlp00 on 01/08/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
I'm using 4 of these with SKU 14035 (320mA constant-current driver) in my kitchen for under-counter lighting. (This setup doesn't deliver the LED's full rated current, but I'm using minimal heat-sinking so I wanted things to stay cool.) The quality of the...
    Cons:
The Polarity is not obvious. I thought the little "-" stamp on one leg was negative, but in my tests I found the opposite to be...

    Seems to work in parallel

posted by zlp00 on 01/08/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
I am using 2 of these drivers in parallel to drive a string of three P7 emitters. (This technique supplies less current than the P7 max ratings, but I have limited heat-sinking in my application, and it seems to be the only AC-powered option on DX at the mo...
    Cons:
No protective case. As others have noted, you can shrink-wrap the whole thing (using the big heat-shrink tubing used for batter...

    Good for circuit-bending

posted by zlp00 on 09/17/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
--It's little and it talks. (no songs, just verbal chants) --I like to modify these things to make the pitch adjustable via a knob or light-sensor. Some chant-boxes cannot be modified because their clock circuits are completely integrated, but this one CAN.
    Cons:
--The build quality is pretty lame. Thinner plastic than most. --Verbal chants are not as fun as musical ones.
