  • Everyone who refurbs older PCs should have one

    posted byssokolow on 02/20/2015

Pros: - Easy to use - Works for both ISA and PCI slots, which is great since some ISA+PCI motherboards don't expose all POST debug codes through their PCI slots. - Manual includes AMI, Award, and Phoenix BIOS codes Cons: - Manual doesn't cover IBM... Read more

  • Perfect for storing 40-pin strips of header

    posted byssokolow on 01/31/2015

These are only about an inch thick, but quite long and wide. Buy a couple of packs of 40-pin header strips and they should fill it quite nicely. Then, buy SKU 4727 for header connector shells sized 5P and below or SKU 176871 for header connector... Read more

  • A good deal on heat-shrink without buying in bulk

    posted byssokolow on 01/31/2015

Like all the other heat-shrink I've bought from DX. A good way to get good-quality heat-shrink at a cheap price without buying a big roll. When the only difference is the diameter, it's hard to say anything more.

  • Great for homebrew USB sticks

    posted byssokolow on 01/31/2015

Excellent-quality breadboard at a great price. (Odorless fiberglass board, fully through-hole plated solder points, and a nice eye-pleasing shade of green.) Stick a LUFA-compatible DIP-format ATTiny or ATMega on, add a USB A or B connector like to... Read more

It matches the description, the price is good, and the the F3 flash testing tool for Linux had no problem with it. What more can I say?

  • Stop fiddling with that bottle cap whenever you need alcohol

    posted byssokolow on 01/26/2015

Just like the kind you see at your doctor's office, there's no easier way to get some alcohol into a cloth or pad without letting the stuff in the bottle evaporate. (The only access to air is via the tiny little hole in the pump head which is to a... Read more
