BIKE LIGHTS battery/charger compatibility

  • RDP100 Wednesday, January 8, 2014 8:22 PM Reply
    OK, I have just received: 7T6 7 x Cree XM-L T6 5000lm 3-Mode Cool White Light Bicycle Light - Black (6 x 18650) – (note: charger output is 1000ma).

Now, I already have MJ-808 HA-III SSC P7-C (SXO)3-Mode 900-Lumen LED Bike Light Set (quite old now), which came with the sealed plastic battery unit with a blue LED battery power read out (hopefully someone will remember this). For this the transformer output is 1800ma.

    NEW SET: http://dx.com/p/7t6-7-x-cree-xm-l-t6-5000lm-3-mode-cool-white-light-bicycle-light-black-6-x-18650-267850

What I would like to know is if the chargers are compatible with either battery pack? Does it matter which charger I use to charger either battery pack? Also, can I use the older battery pack to run the new 5000lm light?

So, New and Old compatible or not?

Electrically they are compatible. Both lights use 7.4V, 2S Li-ion batteries. However, the Magicshine uses a 5.5x2.1mm plug, while a lot of the other bike lights use a 5.5x2.2mm plug. So the plugs may not physically fit.
What's up with the scrubbed LED driver IC markings?
What are they trying to hide?
