Need LEDupgrade for a old standard flashlight bulb

  • LurchAddams Wednesday, July 1, 2015 5:42 AM Reply
Looking to replace bulbs in some 10+ year old D/C cell flashlights. I think the base is a P13.5S. I'd like to find a 100 lumen bulb.
Several companies sell them, but I'd rather buy them cheaper from DX.com.

edit - Btw, DX didn't have them 3 years ago when you asked, and they still don't have them.
NO! I don't know why DX screwed up the site so badly.
    Ask them.

Gasbag - So why do you think DX doesn't sell them?

I have no idea. Maybe there isn't enough profit in them.

You can buy modern flashlights that are much better than those replacement LED/bulbs will ever be. I gave away my last old style Maglite about 2 years ago. The only one I have now is a 200XL, and even that's out dated and not used any more. Rechargeable Li-ion or Nimh cells are much cheaper in the long run too.

I don't recall DX ever selling LED upgrade bulbs for Maglights D-cell flashlights or the like.

You can put in a Product Request and see what DX responds with.
What's up with the scrubbed LED driver IC markings?
What are they trying to hide?

There are several holes in the DX product lines I will never understand. It is what is it - if they don't sell it you have to buy elsewhere.

Wow, so you didn't even keep one for the memories or for your personal museum? You know, now that you have a new hobby, they can be fun modding.

The old D cell Maglites are great kinetic energy transfer devices. Can't beat them. ;)

I've seen some videos of modded Maglites with aspheric lenses that are fantastic throwers, but as much as I like throwers, I have no desire to even try all the modding involved in some of them. Simply swapping drivers/LEDs is enough of a challenge to me, and if it doesn't go a little better with my next attempts, I might start looking for a new hobby. lol
