Any Recommended Knife for Army Purpose?

  • asafh Friday, June 25, 2010 9:59 AM Reply
    Hi,

I'm looking for a good knife, sharp and solid for the army.
I've bought two knives from DX and it broke after couple a days of use.
The knives I already bought are sku 7011 and sku 11617:
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7011
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11617

I need some strong knife that won't break easily.

    Any Recommendations?

    Thanks.

Don't you receive an Army-issued knife?

If you need a knife for military use, don't buy a DX knife. Pay more and buy a good quality knife. KA-BAR, Emerson, Spyderco, even Cold Steel and Benchmade made excellent knives suitable for military use.

The last thing you want is a cheap DX knife to fail on you when you really depend on it while on the field.

--could you elaborate/explain with details how these knives failed? I am particularly curious about sku#11617 as this was the first knife I bought on DX and so far I've had no problems.

    thanks

i would agree that there are many good knives here, and excellent for the price, but if your life may depend on it i wouldn't use any of them. i would say chris reeve knives, although very expensive, are virtually bulletproof.

and also, as RevolverOcelot said, emerson knives are good for hard use, and benchmades, zero tolerance, some others, none avaiable here, regardless of what is printed on the blades.

did the handle split or come apart? Did the blade snap in two? did the screws fall out? did the pivot screw break?

Actually it was in my pocket, and after a few weeks all the screws fell out and gone, the knife is seperated to many pieces.

a 7 dollar knife can't be used for army purposes, maybe a 30 dollar knife will be sturdy enough.
